Synopsis: A short, easy walk through a slough at the north end of Golden. It was out of commission for a while, but the Town of Golden has just replaced the pedestrian bridge across the slough.
Access: From the lights in Golden, head north on Hwy 95. Cross the Kicking Horse River bridge and continue straight. Go under the overpass, but do not turn left onto the cloverleaf. Keep heading north alongside the railway tracks until you reach the LP mill. The road turns right here and crosses the railway tracks. Cross the tracks, follow the road as it curves left, and then, when the road starts to curve back to the right, turn left on to 11th Avenue N. Once you turn left, curve back to the right or you will drive through the wall of the feed store. Drive to the end of 11th Ave. N, where there is an area big enough for several cars to park.
Trailhead: The trailhead is the shiny new green bridge.
Trail: Cross the bridge and follow the gravel trail. The middle section of the trail often has water flowing across it. And just so you know, this trail is officially "Cooper Alfred Road." It does see some bicycle and ATV traffic, as it is a route to downtown from the Anderson Road area.
The trail ends by the spot where Anderson Road meets the TransCanada Highway.
You might see ducks, birds and water rodents on this hike.
