NOTE: While this hike is a little south of our usual area, it will be of interest to Golden residents.

Synopsis: An easy stroll along the creek in a mostly unknown section of Radium Hot Springs. In winter, this could be used for a quick spin on the skis, if there is enough snow.

Access: From the lights in Golden, drive south on Highway 95 for 105 kilometres to the four way stop in Radium Hot Springs. Turn right onto Forster's Landing Road and head towards the saw mill. After you pass the golf course on the left, the road becomes rougher. There is a dirt road on the right that has a small hiking sign labelled "Sinclair Creek." Turn right and follow the dirt road. It drops down to the level of the Canfor log yard and continues for about 400 metres. The road then turns left, and passes between the log yard and the sewage treatment plant. In another 200 metres, the road deadends in a parking area. Park here.

Trailhead: From the carpark, walk up the obvious path towards the creek and an information sign, which has a map of the trail. The trail starts at the sign and heads upstream.

Trail: The trail is very new and very easy to follow. It heads up the true left bank all the way to where Sinclair Creek emerges from a culvert under Highway 95, which is way up above you. (How many times have you driven past and never wondered what was down there?)

You can cross over the culvert and return part way down the right bank, and then cross over again on the new green bridge. There is yet another bridge closer to the parking lot, which links the trail to the condo farm on the hill above.

The trail has a number of interpretive plaques installed, which explain the changes made to enhance the Kokanee spawning areas, as well as some of the history of the area. Do the fish a favour and keep your dog out of the creek.
